FEATURE REPORTING: Coverage and original reporting of a single subject for any topic, including but not limited to lifestyle, sports, business, human-interest. Entries must be 20 minutes or less. Open to radio and satellite networks, local radio stations and digital media, including streaming audio and podcasts. 

INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING: Coverage and original reporting of a single subject for any topic, including but not limited to lifestyle, sports, business, human-interest. Entries may be individual episodes or a full series, but entrants must only submit up to two files if a series that showcases the heart of the enterprise reporting. AUDIO PRODUCTION: Entries must showcase a high level of creative sound design and production in creating an audio series or episode for a news or feature story. Entries must be between 10 minutes and one hour, and individual episodes of a longer series can be submitted for consideration. Please include a brief description of the mix of audio assets and how they were used to create certain effects.

  • After the submissions deadline, the work goes before a judge and the entrant is prohibited from making any changes or including additional bylines to the submission. Doing so can result in the immediate disqualification of the entry.
  • An entry may be reclassified, if deemed necessary. 
  • The Newswomen’s Club reserves the right to decline an award in any category.
  • Winning entries may be posted on the Newswomen’s Club website and may be included in Club publications regarding the Front Page Awards.

Presented for ownership of an ongoing story or subject during contest period. Entrants must be based in the New York metropolitan area. A body of work of up to 12 articles may be submitted.

Entries must be received no later than Monday, November 10 by 11:59 pm ET. Entries must have been published or broadcast between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025.

  • Entrants to all categories, with the exception of The Marie Colvin Award for Foreign Correspondence, must be newswomen who are staff or freelance and based in the New York metropolitan area  -- defined as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania -- at the time of publishing.
  • If the submission includes entrant(s) who work remotely outside of the New York metropolitan area, the submission must include a note about how often the journalist(s) works from within the New York metropolitan area to determine their eligibility. At least half of the names on the byline must live and work in the NY metropolitan area for the submission to be eligible. Please include this when submitting the entry.
  • If a contest submission contains multiple bylines that include the entrant(s) and the names of male colleagues, a note from the supervising editor of the piece must accompany the entry. The letter must state why, specifically, the newswomen on the project played a more significant role in the research, writing and execution of the work being submitted. Please include this when submitting the entry.
  • An entry may NOT be submitted in more than one category –– with two exceptions: (1) when entered separately into different categories by individual talents on the team and (2) when one of the categories requires a portfolio of entries. These categories include The Front Page Award for Journalist of the Year, The Marie Colvin Award for Foreign Correspondence, The Ida B. Wells Award Honoring Exceptional Coverage of Communities of Color, The Martha Coman Front Page Award for Best New Journalist and The Lifetime Achievement Award. For example, a piece entered in a feature category may also be included as part of an entry into The Front Page Award for Journalist of the Year category.
  • Several categories are restricted to local and smaller outlets. A Local TV outlet is defined as one within the New York Designated Market Area. An Independent Newsroom is one that is not affiliated with a major print publication or broadcast company.

Open to all media, whether distributed in print or through digital media outlets, television, radio and satellite networks, local radio stations, and digital media, including streaming audio and podcasts.  

Recognizes leadership, contributions to journalism, and opportunities she has created for other newswomen through her work.
